A local art school has together with the Red Cross organised a humanitarian exhibition at the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina to help the people of Ukraine.
The humanitarian exhibition “Art for Ukraine: Let Humanity Win” was organised by Atelier Fly School of Painting and Drawing in Sarajevo and the Red Cross in BiH.
The first painting purchased at the charity exhibition was the work of an artist who lived in Ukraine for the past six years.
“I'm glad because it's for humanitarian aid to Ukraine,” said artist Ajera Karasalihovic, explaining that her painting depicts “Sarajevo, as a multicultural city and an example of multiculturalism in the whole world.”
“I am not afraid for them, the Ukrainian people are brave people and very optimistic, and we hope that everything will be over as soon as possible,” said Karasalihovic, who came to Sarajevo when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
Some 30 artists are involved in the exhibition, said Faris Hadzihasanbegovic from Atelier Fly.
“It is important for an artist to be socially responsible, not just to draw beautifully, but also to show that we are active and want to help people in need. Sarajevo is an ideal city for this because it has gone through all that,” he said.
