Situation in Ukraine can get worse by only one bullet or a wrong move, foreign news editor at the Russian independent media outlet Rain TV Ekaterina Kotrikadze told N1, commenting on the ongoing tensions in the Russia-Ukraine relations. According to her, the situation in terms of how people see it is much worse in Moscow than Kiev.
Speaking to N1's Esmir Milavic, Kotrikadze said that the situation in Ukraine is much more stable than in Russia, in terms of the feeling of people about what is going on at the border between the two countries.
“The reality is that the war has been going on in Ukraine since 2014 – they had Crimea annexed, they had Donbas in war. So unfortunately, they got used to it,” the journalist explained, adding that there are no major changes in the situation in Ukraine.
On the other hand, the situation in Russia is clearly different, she stressed.
“I am talking about the society, the civil society of Russia, about the people who care about the future of this country,” said Kotrikadze.
According to her, Russian officials are expressing “very aggressive, offensive” statements on daily basis.
“We have a feeling that they are ready to go to Ukraine with a big war. It would be a huge, massive, open invasion of my country, of our country into another, neighbouring country,” she said.
She deems that the answer that Russia got from NATO and the United States the other day means that something will “definitely happen,” adding that the western world's answer meant a “clear no” to the Russia's blackmailing.
