According to Bosnia’s Missing Persons Institute, four of the victims have been identified, while two sets of remains will be buried under the designation “NN” (unidentified), after DNA analysis failed to establish their identities.

The unidentified remains were exhumed from the Drum site near Vlasenica and Tabine Njive near Kladanj. Based on available evidence suggesting they are victims from the Vlasenica area, Bosnia’s Islamic Community and the State Prosecutor’s Office approved their burial at the collective funeral.

The identified victims were people who disappeared in 1992 and 1995 in the areas of Srebrenica, Donja Kamenica and Vlasenica.

Among them is Ahmet Music, born in 1939 in Vlasenica, who disappeared in 1995 after the fall of Srebrenica. His remains were found in 1998 in the Kamenica mass grave near Zvornik. His family had long delayed formal identification because the remains were incomplete, but his son recently decided to bury him beside his brother, who had already been laid to rest.

Also to be buried is Haso Imsirovic, born in 1946 in Vlasenica, who disappeared in 1995 in the Donja Kamenica area. His remains were exhumed in 2006 from the Kamenica-Cancari mass grave.

Two victims whose remains were found only last year will also be buried: Ibro Durmic, born in 1961, and Lutvo Kucic, born in 1954, both from Vlasenica and both missing since 1992. Their remains were exhumed in August 2025 from the Jelovacki Potok site, where a shared grave was discovered.

So far, 1,350 victims from the Vlasenica area have been identified and buried, including 830 killed in the 1995 genocide and 537 killed in 1992, according to the Missing Persons Institute.

Exhumations have been carried out at around 200 locations, with 23 mass graves uncovered. The most recent mass grave sites in the area were discovered in 2017, while the Jelovacki Potok grave was found in August 2025.

The Missing Persons Institute says it is still searching for 363 people from the Vlasenica area.
