The announcement was made following the final meeting of the Organizing Committee ahead of the commemoration marking the 31st anniversary of the genocide.
Hamdija Fejzic, president of the Organizing Committee, said all preparations for this year's commemoration have been completed.
"Speaking about the support of institutions, I am satisfied with the cooperation we have received so far, especially from our international partners, who have fulfilled all of their commitments. Domestic institutions, including the non-governmental sector, also participate every year in the organization and contribute to the implementation of the planned activities," Fejzic said, according to BHRT.
Organizers also announced that 5,300 people have already registered for the 2026 Peace March, the annual commemorative walk retracing the route taken by Bosniaks who tried to escape after the fall of Srebrenica in July 1995.
They expect the number of participants to rise to around 7,000 before the march begins on July 8.
The annual commemoration on July 11 marks the anniversary of the genocide in which more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed by Bosnian Serb forces after the fall of the UN-declared safe area of Srebrenica. The genocide has been recognized by international courts, including the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice.
