Members of the Wolf Rescue Service from Foca and East Sarajevo and the Mountain Rescue Service from Bijeljina travelled to Turkey to the area affected by the devastating earthquake.
The Wolf Rescue Service said that they accepted the invitation of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency AFAD and the Embassy of Turkey in Bosnia to help rescue the victims.
A total of 13 rescuers trained for rescue in urban areas left for Turkey Friday night, and they should be at their final destination Saturday night around 8:00 pm.
“We’re carrying with us complete rescue equipment, tents, food and water that will provide us with a 20-day autonomy to be operational. We set off with three vehicles and a load of 3,400 kilograms, and the final destination is Hatay on the border with Syria,” Chief of the Wolf Rescue Service Nenad Ikonic told Srna news agency.
Of the 13 members of the rescue mission, four are members of the Mountain Rescue Service from Bijeljina, and nine are members of the Wolf Rescue Service, of which three are from Foča, and six are from East Sarajevo.
The rescue team includes two trained and licensed dogs, one can search for survivors and the other for mines and explosives.
The total death toll in Turkey and Syria has reached 24,400.
Sixty-seven people were rescued from the ruins in the previous 24 hours, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay told reporters that 31,000 rescuers arrived in the affected region.
