Speaking to RT Balkan, Dodik confirmed that Russia maintains its longstanding positions regarding the Dayton Peace Agreement. He noted that the Russian delegation in New York will demand that all decisions made by High Representative Christian Schmidt be declared legally null and void.
Diplomatic expectations from Moscow
Despite a judicial ban on performing public functions, Dodik continues intensive international activities on behalf of his party. He emphasized that the Moscow meeting represents a continuation of political cooperation with Russia.
"We believe that Russia, in accordance with its earlier positions, will request that all of Christian Schmidt's decisions be nullified and rendered legally invalid," Dodik stated, reiterating the SNSD’s stance on refusing to recognize the legitimacy of the current High Representative.
Natural gas and allegations of hypocrisy
During the discussions, Dodik thanked the Russian President for the continuous supply of natural gas, while simultaneously criticizing political representatives in Sarajevo. He accused them of cynicism for utilizing Russian gas while refusing official dialogue with Moscow. Dodik added that the SNSD remains firm in its position that sanctions should not be imposed on Russia, nor should the country participate in anti-Russian forums.
Perspective on May 9 and European policy
Reflecting on Victory Day celebrations, Dodik claimed that certain circles in Europe are attempting to diminish the significance of the Red Army in World War II. He criticized the decision to prioritize Europe Day over the victory over fascism, describing it as a "cynical approach" by the successors of those who aligned with Nazi Germany.
While acknowledging that economic cooperation is hindered by international sanctions, the SNSD leader emphasized efforts to maintain relations, particularly in education, citing an interest among youth in studying in Russia.
