EU calls on Republika Srpska to withdraw restrictive legislation

The European Union has urged the Republika Srpska (RS) entity Government to withdraw draft legislation that imposes further restrictions on civil society organizations, as well as proposed amendments to the Republika Srpska Criminal Code that would remove gender identity as a protected category. The EU warned that if these legislative changes are adopted and enacted, they would undermine fundamental rights and democratic principles, placing significant obstacles on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path toward EU membership.
