EU Flood Recovery Project delivers vital support to farmers across Bosnia

A total of 279 farmers from Drvar, Fojnica, Jablanica, Kiseljak, Konjic, Kresevo, Mostar, and Vares, whose livelihoods were impacted by the floods of October 2024, have received substantial material and advisory assistance. This aid has been facilitated through the EU Flood Recovery Support Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The initiative, valued at €20 million, is funded by the European Union and delivered through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
To ensure transparency and a precise assessment of requirements, beneficiaries were selected via a public call. All eligible farmers were permitted to select a bespoke support package tailored to their specific operational needs. These provisions included greenhouses, agricultural inputs, apiculture equipment, and small-scale machinery such as tillers and brush cutters.
Beyond the delivery of physical assets, the project provides ongoing advisory support via group and individual training sessions. These sessions are designed to introduce modern agricultural techniques, enhance production levels, and bolster long-term resilience against climate change.
The EU Flood Recovery Support Project is specifically engineered to address the needs of communities devastated by the 2024 natural disaster, with a particular emphasis on socially and economically vulnerable individuals, the unemployed, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised groups.
In addition to assisting agricultural producers, the UNDP confirmed that the project encompasses the rehabilitation and construction of housing, the restoration of local communal infrastructure and public institutions, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises as they work to resume operations.
