The report was approved on Wednesday with 478 votes in favour, 116 against and 54 abstentions.
MEPs reiterated their support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU accession, stressing that the process must be based on the country’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Parliament called on Bosnia and Herzegovina to strengthen its democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law, intensify the fight against corruption and organised crime, and ensure the protection of fundamental rights for all citizens.
MEPs also urged the country’s political leaders to renew their commitment to EU membership and move forward with reforms that have been delayed for years.
“Parliament urges Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political leaders to renew their commitment to EU membership and implement long-overdue reforms without delay,” the report states.
The European Parliament further called for an end to political practices that continue to hamper the country’s European ambitions.
“It also calls for an end to obstructionism, politically motivated vetoes and divisive rhetoric, which hinder the country’s EU aspirations,” the report says.
The vote comes as Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to face political disputes and institutional blockages that have slowed progress on key reforms required for advancing its EU accession process.
While reaffirming its support for the country’s European future, the Parliament made clear that further progress will depend on the willingness of domestic political leaders to overcome divisions and deliver concrete reforms.
