EUFOR Commander Maurizio Fronda, who co-hosted the roundtable together with the commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, stressed that the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently stable and that EUFOR remains committed to preserving stability through support for domestic institutions, particularly the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"I assure you that the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina remains stable, and EUFOR's goal is to help preserve and maintain that stability, because stability itself represents the greatest benefit for all citizens across this country," Fronda said.

EU Special Representative and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina Luigi Soreca emphasized that today’s meeting sends a clear message to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the EU, in partnership with NATO, remains strongly committed to ensuring long-term regional stability.

"The EU remains a very reliable partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina and provides the largest financial contribution to the security sector. Just yesterday, the EU approved 15 million euros for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and since 2021, that support has reached 50 million euros, sending a strong message about the strategic importance the EU attaches to its engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Soreca added.

He underlined that the best guarantee of Bosnia and Herzegovina's security and stability remains progress on the path toward the European Union, which remains committed to the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order.

Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo Brigadier General Matthew A. Valas stated that NATO remains committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose partner institutions are strongly engaged in NATO programs and are becoming increasingly interoperable, especially the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that NATO Headquarters Sarajevo has established successful cooperation with Bosnian institutions at all levels of government on issues including civil protection, crisis management, counterterrorism and cybersecurity.

"In light of my excellent cooperation with Major General Fronda and the EUFOR mission within the framework of the Berlin Plus arrangement, I am confident that we will all continue successfully supporting our partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina on their reform path," Valas said.

Head of the Political Engagement and Support Cell at NATO Headquarters Vladimir Vucinic stressed that NATO has been committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina for three decades and strongly supports its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace and other relevant agreements.

He stated that NATO will not allow a security vacuum to emerge in Bosnia and Herzegovina or the region.
