Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice what was most valuable to him out of obedience to God.
The holiday lasts for four days and represents a time for family gatherings, strengthening mutual relationships, and visiting relatives and friends, while also offering help to those who need it most. The central act of Eid al-Adha is the offering of the Qurban sacrifice, and the meat is traditionally distributed to family, neighbors, and socially vulnerable individuals, which places a special emphasis on solidarity and humanity.
This morning, the Eid prayer was performed in mosques throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, with believers exchanging the traditional greeting: "Bajram Serif Mubarek Olsun".
The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina previously called upon believers to spend the holiday days in peace, unity, and mutual respect, while reminding them of the importance of caring for family, neighbors, and people in need.
Eid al-Adha is considered a holiday of sacrifice, but also of hope, forgiveness, and mutual understanding, values that carry a special significance in a time of numerous challenges.
