In the midst of political and social tensions in the Balkans, it is almost impossible not to think about the worst-case scenario - war. But in order to understand the time in which we live, we must not forget the time in which we lived.
If anything is certain, it is that, wherever you travel, you can meet someone with their personal ‘Bosnian story.’ Some stories are more personal than others, but all stories have an impact on Bosnian society almost three decades later.
This is the story of a humanitarian volunteer from the war of the 90s, an advocate for justice and truth in Scotland. The co-founder of Remembering Srebrenica Scotland. With an album of never-before-seen photos from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once a volunteer, a humanitarian, today the head of the Scottish Police Federation, David Hamilton.
David Hamilton met with Ika Ferrer Gotic in Glasgow, Scotland at the COP26 Climate Summit. They discussed police work and site security at the time of the largest influx of delegations and visitors the city has seen in years.
But, to the surprise of our reporter, Hamilton also had his own personal ‘Bosnian story’.
See what he had to say for N1 in the video above.
