The delegation, which included EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda and the EU’s Operational Commander, Lieutenant General Ludovic Pinon de Quincy, held extensive talks with the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Lieutenant General Gojko Knezevic. Discussions centered on the necessity of joint engagement and regular information exchange, with a focus on training and capacity-building to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The visit also involved pivotal meetings with the EU Special Representative, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, and the Head of NATO’s Political Engagement Support Cell, Ambassador Vladimir Vucinic. These sessions reaffirmed the critical nature of the "Berlin Plus" arrangements, which facilitate seamless coordination between EUFOR and NATO Headquarters Sarajevo.
Ambassador Soreca described EUFOR as an "integral part" of the European Union's comprehensive approach to the region, famously noting that the military mission and the civilian diplomatic presence function effectively as "two sides of the same coin." The leaders emphasised that EUFOR’s multinational presence serves as a visible guarantee of the EU’s commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
