N1 TV’s legal team has filed criminal charges of endangerment, threats, slander and insults directed at N1 staff on the Facebook page Serbia Our Country (Srbija nasa zemlja). The charges were filed with the Higher Public Prosecution’s Hi-Tech Crime Department.

The Facebook page featured a large number of posts and comments during the month of March in which threats were made to N1 staff, especially News Director Jugoslav Cosic.

The charges alleged that the administrators of that page incited users to make comments which included the crime of endangerment and violent behavior and those comments were not removed.

That Facebook page includes posts which harshly offend N1 News Director Jugoslav Cosic, make untrue claims and slander with posted photographs and captions calling for a spontaneous break-in into N1.

The comments about N1 and Cosic include these: clean up all traitors, go in and break up everything and throw them out of Serbia, burn N1, beat without mercy everyone who works at that mentally pycho sick shitty TV Bastille, burn the traitors with their equipment and others with similar content. The comments included a call to go to the home of Jugoslav Cosic with mention made of children….

The page administrators endangered the safety of the employees and disturbed the peace of the population with those threats and committed the crime of endangerment and violent behavior, the charges said. They also incited other Facebook users to commit those crimes by influencing them to leave their comments with elements of those crimes, the brief said.

The posts caused serious anxiety among N1 employees.
