FBiH records 930 million marks trade deficit in March 2026, exports slightly down

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a total export value of 1,024,314,000 Bosnian marks (approximately €523.72 million) in March 2026. While this figure represents a 7.8 percent increase compared to the same month last year, it marks a slight monthly decline of 2.7 percent from February 2026.

Conversely, imports for March surged to 1,954,405,000 marks (approx. €999.27 million). This reflects a 4.4 percent rise from the previous month and a 7.5 percent increase compared to March 2025.

According to the latest data from the Federal Office of Statistics, the trade deficit for the Federation reached 930,092,000 marks (approx. €475.55 million) in March. This widening gap is reflected in the import-export coverage rate, which dropped to 52.4 percent, a significant 3.9 percent decrease from the 56.3 percent coverage recorded in February.

Analysing the first quarter of 2026 (January–March), exports grew at a monthly average of 3.83 percent, while imports rose by an average of 3.45 percent per month.

During March, the Federation’s primary export destinations remained concentrated in Europe, with the highest volumes heading to Croatia, Germany, and Austria. On the other side of the ledger, the majority of imports originated from Italy, Germany, and China, highlighting the region's continued reliance on both European and global industrial hubs.
