Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the results of the work of the Center for providing free legal assistance to citizens in the fight against corruption, for the year 2023 saying that the number of applications in the previous year was five percent higher.

So far, they have acted in almost 3,000 cases. In 2023, they had 317 cases and filed 28 lawsuits for violating the Free Access to Information Law.

In the past, most reports were related to receiving and giving bribes against doctors and police officers. Still, today the structure is different, ranging from corruption to access to information, they say.

Although they won a lawsuit against the Republika Srpska (RS) entity Ministry of Transport and Communications for hiding the contract with a Chinese company on the Banjaluka-Prijedor highway, the contract is still unavailable to the public.

TI BiH reflected on the observed trends in reporting corruption in different sectors (judiciary, state administration, conflicts of interest, etc.) and presented some of the most significant cases in which they acted towards the competent institutions, as well as the data on court cases that TI BiH conducts against public institutions.

They noted that it is necessary that the conflict of interest also applies to acting directors.
